Summer Mocktails
What are Mocktails?
Mocktails are a non-alcoholic cocktail consisting of a mixture of fruit juices or other soft drinks without liquor. Both my summer mocktails (pineapple and watermelon) are sweet, fruity, tangy and refreshing, punctuated by that classic sugar rim. They’re not only delicious, but also easy to make and are complete flavour bombs!
Both my summer mocktails are the perfect way to remain hydrated this summer. They’re low calorie, a great morning vitamin boost and also the perfect drinks for a summer pool party. I’m sure you and your family are going to fall in love with these summer mocktails.
Can I serve the mocktails using regular water instead?
Yes, you can serve these mocktails using regular water if you want, however, they might end up tasting like fruit juice. Hence, I would suggest either adding soda water, tonic water or even ginger ale to lift your mocktails with carbonated bubbles.
Can I make these using alcohol?
Absolutely! You can use this recipe to make your summer cocktails too. Instead of serving it with soda, you can serve them with Gin or Vodka.
Do we need to add honey?
That’s completely up to you! If you think the fruits are sweet enough and you don’t want that extra sweetness, you can skip it. However, adding honey balances the tartness. So I would definitely recommend you to add it.
If you want your mocktail to be more sweet, add in more honey. Feel free to taste it after mixing all the ingredients and adjust the level of sweetness accordingly.
Can I use sugar instead of honey?
Yes, you can replace honey with sugar if you want! However, this mocktail is supposed to be healthy, hence I don’t recommend you to add any refined sugar unless you need it!
How to make sure the mocktails are served cold?
You can keep the mocktails in the fridge to cool down after blendering it but in order to preserve the freshness of the fruits, I would suggest storing the fruits in the fridge prior to making the mocktails. That way when the mocktail is ready, it is cold and there won’t be a need to store it in the fridge.

Can I use this recipe to make other mocktails?
Yes, everyone has a different flavour preference and you can absolutely play around with the ingredients. You can use the pineapple mocktail recipe to make other fruity mocktails including mango, orange or peach. You can also use the watermelon mocktail recipe to make a refreshing cucumber and mint mocktail. There are so many other mocktails that you can make, however, these are probably my all time favourite ones.
How do I serve the mocktails?
The perfect way to serve these mocktails is using a sugar rimmed glass along with a slice of lemon/lime and a piece of the fruit. However, you can serve these mocktails however you like!
Can I make the mocktails in advance?
I wouldn’t recommend you making this in advance and storing it in the fridge as the flavour changes and the fruit doesn’t taste very refreshing anymore. You can leave it to rest for a few hours and allow all the flavours to merge (before mixing the soda) if you want. However, I would definitely suggest you consume it within a couple of hours of making it.
Any substitutes for the ingredients mentioned?
There are not many substitutes available for this recipe, however, you can substitute honey with agave or sugar, and you can replace soda with regular water, sparkling water or even any liquor of your choice!
Most of the ingredients used in this recipe are very basic and should be readily available in your closest grocery store.
Any cooking tips for this recipe?
-
Use fresh fruits when making the mocktails. Avoid using fruit juice from the supermarket as the mocktails won’t taste as refreshing as the ones using fresh fruits.
-
Serve the mocktails immediately where possible. Do not store it in the fridge for more than a few hours.
-
Don’t skip on the ice cubes! Mocktails not only need to taste good but they need to look good too. Adding ice cools the mocktails and makes your drink look like it came from a fancy bar.
