What is a Biscoff Coffee Milkshake?

If you’ve never tried a biscoff milkshake, you’re certainly missing out on all the fun. My lotus biscoff coffee milkshake is simply a blend of milk, biscoff biscuits, biscoff spread, instant coffee and cashew nuts that makes a creamy and delicious milkshake. Serve this milkshake topped with my lotus biscoff coffee ice-cream and I promise you that this will be your favourite milkshake for life. If you’ve never tried a biscoff milkshake, you’re certainly missing out on all the fun.

Unlike other milkshakes, this has no added sugar and is not extremely sweet or heavy! It’s so quick and easy to make and you can enjoy it during the summer (or whenever you want). If you don’t like coffee or biscoff, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered too!

What is the secret behind a perfect milkshake?

Milkshakes need to be sweet, thick, creamy and delicious for you to enjoy it! They also need to be served cold. Apart from using cold milk, I’ve also served my milkshake topped with some of my lotus biscoff coffee ice-cream. To make the milkshake extra creamy, I’ve also used cashew nuts. This adds a slight hint of nuttiness to the milkshake too.

Can I make the milkshake without coffee?

Yes, you can! If you don’t like coffee or are making this milkshake for kids, you can skip it and just make a lotus biscoff milkshake. However, it’s worth noting that adding coffee adds a slight bitterness to the milkshake. If you are intending not to add coffee, make sure you reduce the amount of biscoff spread and biscuits, otherwise your milkshake might be too sweet! However, feel free to adjust the taste according to your likings.

Can I make the milkshake without biscoff?

If you don’t like the flavour of biscoff, you can skip the biscuits and the spread and simply make a coffee milkshake! If you intend to do so, you can also add any other biscuits of your choice including coffee-flavored biscuits to add extra flavour to your milkshake.

What type of milk can I use?

You can use any milk of your choice! If you’re vegan, you can make this using any plant-based milk of your choice. Unsweetened oat, almond or soy milk work great!

What type of ice-cream do you use for the milkshake?

The best way to serve the biscoff coffee milkshake is undoubtedly with some biscoff coffee ice-cream! You can click here to check out the recipe! You could also serve the milkshake with some regular vanilla ice-cream instead, however, it might not taste the same.

Do we need to blend the ice-cream to make milkshakes?

Traditional recipes blend a whole load of ice-cream together with other ingredients to make the milkshakes extremely thick and creamy. However, I find those milkshakes very high in calories and make you feel extremely bloated after drinking a full glass.

Hence, instead of adding ice-cream into the base of the milkshake, I’ve included it as a part of serving the milkshake. Hence, you can drink your milkshake and also eat your ice-cream together. This way, you can adjust how much ice-cream you want in your milkshake or skip it completely! Since I’ve used cashew nuts in the base of the milkshake, not using ice-cream in the base of the milkshake does not affect the thickness and creaminess of the milkshake either.

What type of coffee should we use?

Any good and high-quality instant coffee should be fine! I love using Nescafe gold which is strong, flavourful and aromatic. However, it’s up to you whichever coffee you want to use. You can also use decaffeinated coffee if you want (especially if you are going to serve this to kids).

Just remember that if your coffee is too strong, you won’t be able to taste the biscoff and if your coffee is not strong enough, the biscoff will overshadow the coffee. Hence, it’s important to strike that balance!

Can I use other nuts since I’m allergic to cashew nuts?

Yes, you can! You certainly can use almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts or pine nuts. However, the taste and texture of the milkshake might be slightly different depending on the type of nut you are using. I would also recommend you to soak the nuts before using, so they become easier to blend. Alternatively, you can also skip them completely. The milkshakes will be less creamy,  however they will still taste incredibly great.

Can I make milkshakes without milk?

You certainly cannot make milkshakes without milk! Milk is a primary ingredient for any and every milkshake! They’re what makes the milkshake so creamy and delicious. If you’re lactose intolerant, you can use any lactose-free milk of your choice. If that isn’t an option for you too, I would recommend you to check out my summer mocktails or dragon fruit and pineapple smoothie recipe. They’re both amazing drinks, made without milk!

Can I use this recipe to make other milkshakes?

Yes, you can! Apart from biscoff and coffee milkshake, you can use this recipe to make  other amazing milkshakes by simply substituting the bicoff and coffee with other ingredients. You could make an oreo nutella milkshake, mint chocolate chip milkshake, mixed berry milkshake or literally anything else! If you fancy, you can also try out my mango milkshake. Full recipe and instructions are on my instagram account.

Do we need to refrigerate the milkshake after blending it?

No, there is no need for it! Once the milkshake is ready, you can serve it immediately. Since we are using cold milk and adding ice-cubes already, there is no need to refrigerate it before serving. However, if you want the milkshake to be extremely cold, you can store it in the fridge for about an hour before enjoying it!

How long can I store the milkshake for?

The milkshake is best to be consumed within the same day of making it. However, if you’ve got leftovers, pop them in the fridge and enjoy them the next day. You could also warm it up if you want and turn these milkshakes into a warm drink that you can enjoy with some biscuits.

How do I serve the milkshakes?

I love serving these milkshakes in a rimmed glass with some added ice-cubes. Once I’ve poured the milkshake, I top it off with two scoops of lotus biscoff coffee ice-cream and a biscoff biscuit. Apart from looking beautiful, this is such a perfect milkshake since you can drink the milk and eat the ice-cream at the same time!

Any substitutes for the ingredients mentioned?

Unfortunately, if you are intending to make this lotus biscoff coffee milkshake, there are no substitutes for any of the ingredients. Having said that, you can replace or skip ingredients if you are intending to use this recipe to make other milkshakes!

Any cooking tips for this recipe?

  1. Make sure you are using cold milk to make the milkshakes. If your milk is not cold, either pop it in the fridge before blending it up or pop the milkshake into the fridge before serving it.

  2. Don’t skip on the cashew nuts as they help to make the milkshake creamy, nutty and thick!

  3. Milkshakes aren’t complete without ice-cream so don’t forget to add ice-cream on top of your milkshakes. My lotus biscoff coffee ice-cream works incredibly well with this recipe.
